Macquarie Cottage C1890. Situated in the busy little Tourist/Fishing village of Strahan on the West Coast of Tasmania at 5 Reid Street.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms. Separate living room & kitchen. 1 bathroom.

It has the original Tas Oak floors & baltic pine lining in some of the rooms.

The bathroom floor is Huon Pine.

2 Fire places plus additional electric heating.

There is also a good sized shed/workshop (shed 33.1 m2)

Centrally located overlooking Macquarie Harbour but still very peaceful & private location with part of the property covered in native forest leading down to water front & part if it an enchanting cottage garden, with convict brick paving (complete with thumbprints) & box hedges. Garden is lush & green, no drought problems in this area of the world.

Commercialy zoned & situated in a prime position (yet still so quiet & peaceful).

I operated the cottage as a very successful tourist B&B for 10 years (& still would be if I hadn't moved away for family reasons). I'm sure the name "Macquarie Cottage" is still out there & fondly remembered by our many guests who would often return year after year, I still have holiday makers track me down to ask if the cottage will be available in the future. We had a minimum occupancy rate of around 75% per annum.

I am currently renting the cottage out as a private residence, There is no problem finding good tenants as there are plenty of employment opportunities in the Tourism industry, the trades & neighbouring mining towns & not enough accommodation to go around. The community is fanstastic & very welcoming. The surrounding countryside is pristine & breathtaking (uninhabited) beautiful beaches, mountains, rivers & forests.

Burnie is 2 1/2 hrs drive north & Hobart is 4 1/2 hours drive west.

House 101.8m2. Open Verandahs 24m2. Shed 33.1 m2 (shed verandah 17.3m2)
